“On behalf of Council, I am writing to express the City’s support for Landmark Architecture’s nomination of Family Place located in Parksville for the Women Transforming Cities 2013 Best Practices award.
“Family Place was designed to integrate multiple community services to serve residents in one convenient and comprehensive facility. It was designed using the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), which contributes to the safety and well being of our neighbourhoods, and the sustainability measures incorporated in the design of the facility have lessened the project’s impact on civic infrastructure. Moreover, the facility blends well into its residential neighbourhood and offers a pleasant location that welcomes residents who require access to community services.
“We are fortunate to enjoy the benefits of this facility and the programs it offers in the heart of our community, and we strongly support the nomination of Family Place for this award.”
